It was a beautiful 50-degree day in Indianapolis today, and dog parks like that of Broad Ripple Park near my house looked to be at nearly capacity (whatever that is for an open-air dog park.) The only thing that could've made it better, perhaps, would be a pint of Sun King Osiris pale ale.
There were probably plenty of people drinking pale ales at Boneyard Dog Park & Drinkery (pictured above), which is exactly what its name says: a place for dogs to play and for people to drink. Well, that's not completely fair: the 7,000 square-foot facility also features plenty of fountains so dogs can drink too - but of course they slurp water, not beer.
The bar features a great variety of beer and wine, shade for pups and people alike, and an adoption wall to help dogs in need of families find homes.
Unfortunately, Boneyard isn't in Indiana - it's in Houston, Texas. Indiana has plenty of dog parks - but no dog park/bars yet. Would a dog park/bar be feasible with Indiana zoning and liquor-license laws? I - and my dogs - sure hope so!
